I am praying it somehow gets better between now and then because I don't want to even consider running 13.1 miles in the 50s with rain! Please, rain and half marathon gods, have pity on me? haha
Tonight is our last official half marathon class and I am super bummed about it. I have grown very fond of our weekly meetings. Its been a great way to get out of the house and have some adult time and get to know other people who have similar goals as me. I knew I would meet people, but I didn't realize that I would make such good friends with the people in the class. We will apparently have a "mixer" after the half where we get together with the North class and go out to eat and discuss how the half went. I am really looking forward to that. Should be a great time.
I am volunteering at Natalie's preschool today, my family gets here late tomorrow evening, and then starts the countdown to my first half marathon!
Ready or not, its less than 70 hours from now!!! ahhhhhh! Can't wait...
If it makes you feel any better, I ran 7 miles in rain at about 50 degrees on Sunday night. It felt amazing and I'd run in that every day if I could. I was thinking I would be cold but I was actually very comfortable and the rain kept me refreshed feeling!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this weekend regardless!!!
I am so excited to have found your blog!! Or, better yet, I'm excited you found me so I could find you. :)
ReplyDeleteOther than the fact you are 2 inches taller than me, I am 100% relating to everything I've read so far. Love it!! One other exception - dude, you are fast! It really, really gives me hope. I was totally allowing myself to think the other girls are all fast because they are small and petite...I guess now I have to push myself more because you are taller than me and have lost more weight...
YOU ROCK!!!
Thanks Sarah and Audrey.
ReplyDelete@ Audrey - I have been running since January, you are much faster than I was when I started, I think that everyone has the ability to run faster than they think. I know I never considered the possibility that I might be able to win age group awards and such - its a great reward when I do (albeit rare). It's been almost a year since I started the healthy living/dieting thing, I started the first week of October of 2010.
I am very glad to have found your blog too - it is very helpful for me to find people who are on the same journey as I am!
Ohhh the weather. I'm a little with Sweet and Savory - I ran Chicago in the cold and rain and . . . it really wasn't nearly as horrible as I had expected it to be AND it really did provide a hugely beneficial distraction!!!! No matter what - you've done the training and I saw a glimpse of your confidence last night.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that we have met. I so look forward to hearing about every detail of your race. Good luck kick butt and have fun!!!!
Enjoy the time with you mom!!!
Thanks "L" - I am so pumped, honestly, the confidence I have is surprising me. I know that the time goal is just a secondary to the awesome feeling of crossing that finish line. What a huge relief that has been.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see you Saturday morning, but if not - good luck to you as well. I know both you and "C" will smash your goals! So excited for you both!
